Interest and intention are not the same thing. A person can feel attraction, enjoy attention, or imagine a future without being prepared to create one. This seven-card spread distinguishes the energy of the connection from the choices being made within it. Use it when someone’s words feel promising but their direction remains unclear.
Intentions become trustworthy when words, availability, and repeated actions point in the same direction.

Before You Shuffle
Ask: “What do I need to understand about the intentions shaping this connection?” Focus on a current relationship or developing situation. Draw once, then compare the reading with observable behavior instead of repeating the spread whenever anxiety rises.
How to Lay Out the Cards
Place card one at the top center. Create a middle row with cards two, three, and four. Place cards five and six beneath them, then card seven at the bottom center. The layout moves from the connection’s surface into desire, availability, action, and your discernment.

Card 1: The Energy They Bring
This card describes what you are receiving now: curiosity, warmth, inconsistency, caution, attraction, friendship, or emotional distance. Let actual interactions help define the card.
Card 2: What They Want From the Connection
This position explores the experience they appear to seek, such as companionship, romance, validation, exploration, stability, physical connection, or an open-ended bond.
Card 3: Their Emotional Availability
Feelings cannot develop into partnership without capacity. This card shows whether they appear able to be vulnerable, consistent, accountable, and present for another person.
Card 4: Their Conscious Intention
Read this as the direction they may currently recognize: building something, taking time, keeping matters casual, resolving uncertainty, or maintaining the status quo.
Card 5: What Their Actions Are Building
This card tests intention against behavior. It shows the relationship their present choices are actually creating, regardless of what either person hopes will happen.
Card 6: What Could Change the Direction
Timing, a conversation, a boundary, increased trust, or an incompatible need may alter the path. This card identifies the factor most capable of shifting the connection.
Card 7: What I Should Trust
End with your clearest source of discernment. You may be asked to trust consistency, your body’s response, a stated boundary, direct communication, or the evidence already in front of you.
How to Read the Story
Read cards two through five as a sequence: desire, capacity, intention, and action. Alignment across these positions suggests a clearer direction. Contradiction matters more than one romantic card. Card six shows whether the gap can realistically change, while card seven tells you what evidence deserves the greatest weight.
